HAVERHILL, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) - A 21-year-old man was arrested Thursday for his alleged connection to a fatal stabbing in Haverhill.
Philip Lucas Defusco, of Haverhill, is charged with murder in the death of 25-year-old Derric Gaines, also of Haverhill.
A witness called police at about 8 p.m. Wednesday to report two men fighting inside a white Lincoln, before one of the men took off with the other chasing him.
At about 8:30 p.m. police responded to a report of an altercation and found Gaines lying on the sidewalk outside a High Street home. He was transported to the hospital with multiple stab wounds where he was later pronounced deceased.
On Thursday, a woman called police saying she thought her step-son had been involved in a stabbing and her car had blood inside of it.
Gaines was arrested and arraigned in Haverhill District Court Thursday afternoon.
