Man behind bars for New Hampshire triple murder kills again in Florida jail

A brutal murder in a Florida jail cell has local ties.

The suspect behind bars was already convicted of murdering three people in New Hampshire; two of those victims were from Massachusetts.

Stephenie Jones is the sister of Gary Jones, one of two Massachusetts men murdered by Michael Woodbury in July 2007.

Gary, and his friend William Jones, along with store manager James Walker, were shot and killed at an Army Navy store in North Conway, New Hampshire during a camping trip.

Woodbury not only admitted to the murders, he pleaded guilty to them, too. Now, Michael Woodbury is charged with a fourth murder behind bars in the Florida prison where he is serving time.

"This man has been a danger since before he murdered my brother," said Jones.

For the families of the Massachusetts victims, Woodbury was almost forgotten, but that all changed with a phone call three weeks ago.

Stephenie Jones tells Boston 25 News reporter Bob Ward that a New Hampshire victim's advocate called her and told her that Woodbury is charged again with a first-degree premeditated murder.

Authorities allege back in September, Woodbury barricaded a cell door and beat a fellow inmate to death with a padlock tied to a sock. The murder caused a prison standoff that lasted more than two hours.

"Prisoners are prisoners, they've done bad. But this guy, he did this to, didn't deserve to die and I've read he has a widow now and two children."

Florida is a death penalty state. Florida prosecutors have not announced if they'll seek the ultimate punishment against Woodbury, but if they do, Stephanie Jones is all for it.

"It wouldn't surprise me if he actually would say yes to the death penalty with no appeals, say yeah, send me to the devil. I'd be like, OK. When's the date?" said Jones.

Eleven years later Jones and her family still want justice and now the family of a fourth victim will, too.
