NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Massachusetts State Police along with North Attleboro Police responded on Saturday morning to a call for a suspect barricaded inside a home.
The State Police Special Tactical Operations Team and a crisis negotiator were called to the scene at around 11:30 a.m. at Robert Beaupre Circle.
A police helicopter as well as the bomb squad were also called to scene.
In a standoff that took approximately seven hours, the negotiator was able to speak to the man, who was in his 70's, until he surrendered at around 6:40 p.m.
Police say the man was not holding any hostages, but that he did have a gun and may have planned to injure himself.
The man was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment and North Attleboro Police secured his gun, which will be taken in for further investigation.
No injuries or fatalities were reported.
