Correction: The Coast Guard told FOX25 an initial release that stated the man had been missing since Sunday was incorrect. They have corrected it to say he went missing Monday. This story has been updated to reflect the correction.
YARMOUTH, Mass. -- After being adrift for almost 12 hours, a man was found on his overturned boat near Yarmouth early Tuesday morning, according to the coast guard.
A woman called police in the area at 10 p.m. Monday, asking them to check on her boyfriend who had gone out to launch his boat on Bass River from Wilbur Park at 11:00 a.m. and hadn’t contacted her since.
Police searched the area, but couldn’t find any sign of the man until the woman told them around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, he may actually have launched from Bass River Beach. When police found his truck and empty trailer at the boat ramp there, they launched a search of Bass River and the surrounding inlets.
Coast Guard officials say the USCG helicopter found 36-year-old Arthur Moscufo, of Medford, on his overturned boat outside the mouth of the Bass River shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday.
