Man accused of scamming One Fund places blame on his brother

BOSTON (AP) - A lawyer for the older of the two brothers charged with trying to cheat the Boston Marathon bombing victims' fund out of $2.2 million is pointing the finger at the younger man.

Twenty-three-year-old Branden Mattier and 28-year-old Domunique Grice appeared in court Monday.

Prosecutors say they filed a claim with The One Fund using the name of an aunt who has been dead for a decade, claiming she lost both legs in the April 15 attack.

reports that Grice's lawyer said Mattier filled out the paperwork and applications, while his client did "relatively very little."

Prosecutors say the brothers exchanged dozens of text messages about the alleged scheme.

They have pleaded not guilty and are out on bail. They left court together. Mattier denies the charges.
