WORCESTER, Mass. — A dangerousness hearing was held Thursday for the man accused of kidnapping a 7-year-old girl and throwing her from a bridge.

In addition to previous charges of kidnapping, Joshua Hubert is now accused of attempted murder.

Police said he was at a cookout in Worcester last weekend when he took the girl and tried to choke her. He allegedly drove her around before throwing her from a bridge into Lake Quinsigamond. Court documents say Hubert wrapped the girl in a blanket before he the her over the bridge.

The girl was able to swim to shore and call for help.

Prosecutors say Hubert and the girl's father have been friends since fourth grade.

Hubert works at the Fay School in Southborough. Officials there said he has since been suspended.

Hubert will be arraigned on an attempted murder charge on September 5.
