BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – An Abington man will appear in court Friday on charges that he struck two children in a Dorchester crosswalk while driving his vehicle under the influence of drugs.
Police said Michael Duca, 28, was driving at a high rate of speed when he struck a toddler and a child in a stroller walking with a family at the intersection of Talbot Ave. and Dorchester Ave. Police said he switched seats with the vehicle's owner before police arrived.
Investigators said Duca's speech was slurred and he dozed off while being interviewed by officers.
He was charged with operating after suspension, operating under the influence of drugs and negligent operation of a motor vehicle earlier in March.
The victims' injuries were not life-threatening.
