BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – A man, who was arrested after dragging an officer with his vehicle on Sunday fled, his arraignment Monday.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office says Eric Nelson, 47, of Weymouth, bought a bag of heroin and then fled from officers on Sunday. As he was trying to get away he dragged an officer on Columbia Road with his car.
The officer suffered injuries to his lung, spleen and back but was expected to survive.
According to prosecutors, Nelson made bail on Sunday and was expected to appear in court Monday. The DA's office said Nelson spoke with an attorney and probation officer in court, but was not present when is case was called.
Nelson was facing eight charges including, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, possession of a Class A substance, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest in connection with Sunday's incident.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
