Fleury - who is a level three sex offender - told a Lynn newspaper he was buying drugs with Mendez the night she died - but said he did not kill her.

Boston 25 News has also learned that human remains found over the weekend on King's Beach in Swampscott are that of Jaimee Mendez.

Her remains were also found on that same beach in 2015.

In a plea deal goes through Friday, Fleury will face up to 20 years in prison on the manslaughter charge.

Mendez's family say they plan to protest the plea deal outside of court Friday.
