Police say the 8-year-old girl was shot just about 15 minutes before that on Heath Street in Jamaica Plain around midnight. The girl’s mother’s boyfriend tells Boston 25 that they were visiting his apartment when the gunfire erupted. He says Jakayla was playing just outside his front door when she was grazed by the two bullets.
“She’s innocent… that’s a baby for crying out loud… a baby girl. She has nothing to do with no violence,” said Mariano Caribe, mother’s boyfriend.
