Malden man charged with raping family friend

LYNN, Mass. (AP) — A Malden man charged with having sex with an underage and intellectually disabled family friend has been ordered held without bail.

A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of 23-year-old Andie Jean on Monday to charges including rape of a child with force and indecent assault and battery on a person with an intellectual disability.

A relative of the alleged victim told police he found Jean in the girl's bedroom, and both were in a state of partial undress.

The Daily Item of Lynn reports that the alleged victim was described as a teenager with the intellectual capability of a 6 or 7 year old.

His court-appointed defense attorney requested Jean be held without prejudice, allowing the public defender's office to argue bail at a dangerousness hearing.
