Maine officials find no sign of missing toddler in renewed search

OAKLAND, ME (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Maine state police, game wardens, and Waterville police say they found no sign of missing toddler Ayla Reynolds during a search of a wooded area in Oakland.

State police spokesman Steve McCausland said more than 30 searchers, including a dive team, focused their latest effort Wednesday in the community outside Waterville in an area that includes woods, clear-cuts, and a small pond.

Authorities focused on an area off Hussey Hill Road and another area across the street. State police said they have searched this area before, but never did a shoulder-to-shoulder grid search.

The 21-month-old disappeared from her father's home in Waterville on Dec. 17, 2011. Her father, Justin DiPietro, previously claimed Ayla was abducted, however, police maintain there is no evidence to suggest a kidnapping occurred.
