• Lynn woman accused of killing father, dogs

LYNN, Mass. (AP) — A 68-year-old Lynn woman has been charged with killing her 89-year-old father and two family dogs then leaving the bodies to decompose in the home they shared.

Nancy Baker was ordered held without bail after pleading not guilty to murder and animal cruelty charges at her arraignment in Lynn Union Hospital.

Baker was arrested Sunday after a neighbor called police because he had not seen the family for several days and the mail was piling up.

Police, upon entering home, smelled "a strong odor of decomposition" and saw blood.

The dogs as well as 89-year-old Donald Baker Sr. appeared to be suffering from stab wounds. Authorities say it appears they had been dead for several days. The district attorney did not disclose a motive.

Nancy Baker's attorney did not comment.
