Lynn high school parents upset over notification about school threat

LYNN, Mass. — Parents are furious after learning about a school shooting threat at a Lynn high school weeks after that threat was found.

“As parents, we put our kids in your care, and it's your job to make sure that we know what is going on with them at all times,” said Lamar Harris, a parent of a student at Lynn English High School.

Lynn Police say earlier this month, the threat was found inside a bathroom - a drawing of a person and a gun, along with an apparent target date - May 25. Parents say they weren't notified until Tuesday.

“The kids should have known, should have went home with some sort of paperwork, saying this happened today, this is what we found out,” said Harris.

Harris says he doesn't think administrators took the threat seriously, a thought echoed by his son, who says many of his fellow students plan to skip school on Friday.

“I was scared, I didn't know what was going to happen…I didn't know if I was going to be safe at this school or anything,” said Lamar Harris Jr.

The superintendent did not respond to repeated requests for comment.
