Lynn break-in suspect seeks forgiveness

LYNN, Mass. (AP) - A judge has ordered a mental health evaluation for a Lynn man police say broke into a home, threatened to kill the residents, then broke down and begged for forgiveness when he learned one was a minister.

The evaluation was ordered at the arraignment for 56-year-old Jose Reyes. Not guilty pleas on multiple charges were entered on his behalf.

April Leone, minister at Community Tabernacle of Deliverance, was one victim of the break-in Saturday.

Leone told The Daily Item that Reyes demanded drugs and alcohol. When she showed him her certificate of ordination, he slid down the wall to the floor and started crying.

Leone said she forgave Reyes and said she would pray for him and he left empty-handed. But he returned minutes later and she called police.
