BOSTON (AP)- Congressmen Stephen Lynch and Edward Markey have both delivered enough certified voter signatures to state officials to guarantee themselves a spot on the Democratic primary in the state's special U.S. Senate election.
Both candidates delivered well over the 10,000 signatures needed to secure a place on the ballot.
Markey was accompanied by dozens of supporters as he dropped off his signatures Monday at Secretary of State William Galvin's office in Boston.
Three Republican Senate hopefuls - Norfolk state Rep. Daniel Winslow, former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan and Cohasset businessman Gabriel Gomez - have said they've also collected well over 10,000 certified signatures.
They have until Wednesday to deliver the signatures to Galvin's office.
The Democratic and Republican primaries will be held on April 30. The special election in June 25.
