Lowell woman credited with saving unconscious puppy

LOWELL, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Lowell woman is being credited with saving the life of an unconscious puppy that was reportedly seen being dragged by its leash Saturday night.

According to the Lowell Sun, Lisa Millirons flagged down a police officer after she saw the puppy being dragged by a man believed to be its owner near Market Street and Palmer Street at about 11:30 p.m.

Millirons told the newspaper that the puppy's owner had been at the Blue Shamrock with the dog since approximately 2 p.m.

Rescue crews responded to the restaurant and attempted to revive the puppy when Millirons, who has a friend who is a veterinarian, stepped in and was able to get the dog to regain consciousness.

The owner of the dog was not identified, but police said he appeared to be intoxicated. A police sergeant told the Lowell Sun that the owner will be summonsed to court to face a count of animal cruelty.
