Lowell man accused of kidnapping young son at knifepoint

LOWELL, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Lowell man accused of kidnapping his son at knifepoint is under arrest.

Daniel Redding is facing home invasion and custodial kidnapping charges for the incident which occurred Tuesday night.

According to police, the 22-year-old forced his way into the Moore Street home where his 7-month-old son lives with his mother. Redding pushed her and threatened her with a knife before taking off with the little boy.

Lowell police were able to catch up with Redding a short time later.

The child was not injured.

Redding was transferred to Middlesex County Jail Wednesday on an outstanding warrant out of Marlborough. He will be back in court Sept. 13.
