Updated:PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A simple traffic stop in New Hampshire was the key to solving a crime that started thousands of miles away, according to New Hampshire State Police.
On Friday, Trooper Haden Wilber stopped a car driven by 34-year-old Andrea Brooks. As he ran her information, he learned that she was wanted by the New Orleans, L.A. police department for kidnapping, though the child was not with her in the car.
Brooks allegedly kidnapped her 11-year-old daughter from the New Orleans area, and police worked to find out where, exactly, she was. After a detailed police investigation, detectives found a possible address for the girl in the Dorchester section of Boston.
Boston police officers responded to the home and found the girl safe. She was then taken to Carney Hospital in Dorchester as a precaution. She is currently in the custody of the Department of Children and Families while arrangements are made to return the girl to her father in New Orleans.
