Updated:BURLINGTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Louisiana man was arraigned Thursday for his alleged connection to the discovery of a dead body on Route 128 in Burlington.
Nicandro Velasquez, 50, is charged with leaving the scene of a death and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Velasquez was ordered held on $4,000 cash bail under the conditions that he surrender his passport and not drive a motor vehicle.
Investigators say Velasquez and 54-year-old Cliserio Cordova Ferral, also of Louisiana, were driving together to Maine for work on July 26. While driving on 128, Ferral fell out of the truck and onto the roadway. Velasquez continued driving even though he knew Ferral was injured, police allege.
Witnesses gave Mass. State Police information about the truck Velasquez was reportedly driving, which led them to the 50-year-old. He is due in court Sept. 18 for a probable cause hearing.
