Loose dogs attack woman walking dog in Dorchester

BOSTON — Police are trying to track down the owners of two dogs that attacked a woman walking her own dog.

Boston Police and Inspectional Services say the incident happened near the intersection of Carlos and Callender Streets in Dorchester just before 7 a.m.

A woman and her small dog were out for a walk when they say two pit bulls attacked.

The who was attacked had to get several stitches on her arm where the dogs bit her. She was released from the hospital earlier Tuesday, but her daughter tells Boston 25 News her mother was taken back to the hospital because she was still in a lot of pain.

The dog suffered a punctured lung, among other injuries, and may need surgery.

Two Boston police officers were able to track down where the two pit bulls live, which is not far from where it all happened, and posted a quarantine notice on the door. Animal control has been trying to get in touch with the owner all day long to take the two dogs, but they have not yet been able to.

It's unclear where the dogs are now, but a spokesperson for Inspectional services tells Boston 25 News there’s no record for a dog license for either of them, and that the owner will be fined for having unlicensed, unleashed dogs, as well as failure to vaccinate either of them.
