NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) - Prosecutors say a Longmeadow teenager is facing a rape charge for allegedly assaulting a student outside at UMass-Amherst at the start of the semester.
Eighteen-year-old Patrick Durocher is due back in court next month in connection with Sept. 2 attack. He pleaded not guilty to aggravated rape at his arraignment earlier this month.
He was a UMass student at the time but a university spokesman says he is no longer a student. Attempts to reach him were unsuccessful.
WGGB-TV reports that according to the police report, the suspect called out to the victim, whom he did not know, forced her against a tree, bit her, and forced her to the ground outside the Campus Center, and assaulted her. Witnesses intervened and called police. The suspect was arrested at the scene.
