Local chefs are competing for best fries, and you can taste test

SOMERVILLE, Mass. — Some of the Boston metro area's best chefs will be chopping and frying this Sunday for a highly coveted title of best french fries.

Tony Maws of Craigie on Main and Kirkland Tap & Trotter, Steve "Nookie" Postal of Commonwealth, Tiffani Faison of Sweet Cheeks Q and Tiger Mama and Will Gilson of Puritan & Company are competing in Boston Food Fights Fry-Off!, which benefits the nonprofit No Kid Hungry.

For $20, attendants can eat all the fries they want at the food fight, as well as enjoy two sponsored drinks.

No Kid Hungry works to provide meals to children in the United States who are food insecure. Since the launch, it has given 500 million meals.

Tony Maws won last year's Fry-Off! with special green chile fries.

The event is Sunday at Kirkland Tap & Trotter in Somerville from 2 to 4 p.m.
