Loaded gun found near tot in baby carriage

MANCHESTER, N.H. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A New Hampshire couple is facing several charges after police say they found a loaded gun hidden near a child in a baby carriage.

Jonathan Bijoel, 28, of Manchester, was arrested and charged with robbery; theft of a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm due to a felony conviction out of Maricopa County, Ariz., in 2001.  He was also held for violation of bail conditions established June 4, 2012, in Hillsborough County.

Cassandra Gagnon, 23, of Manchester, was also arrested and charged with falsifying physical evidence and violation of bail conditions established at the 9th Circuit District Court Manchester on June 20, 2012.

On Monday, police responded to the area of Kelley and Rimmon streets and noticed a man who appeared to be distraught. The officer approached him and saw that he had sustained an injury to his mouth and learned he had been assaulted during a robbery attempt.

Police then tracked down the suspect, Bijoel, who was walking his 1-year-old daughter in a baby carriage along with his girlfriend, Gagnon.

"As the officers approached, Gagnon took control of the carriage and attempted to walk away but the trio was ultimately detained without incident," Manchester police Lt. Maureen Tessier said in a statement.

"Further investigation lead to the recovery of a loaded 9mm handgun from the storage area of the carriage located under the child's seat. The gun was later determined to have been stolen."
