WELLFLEET, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A live WWII military round washed ashore at Marconi Beach Wednesday.

A 300-foot perimeter was set up around what officials originally called an unexploded military ordinance on the beach. A local fisherman found the device when it washed ashore. Other areas of the beach remained open while state police, park rangers and the bomb squad investigated.

The bomb squad found that the device was a live WWII military round; it was countercharged at a remote section of the beach, officials say.
