Light rain, snow possible for Monday afternoon, evening

Expect a mostly cloudy Monday with spotty, light afternoon rain showers. Temperatures will reach the low to mid 40s, which will keep most of the daytime precipitation in the form of liquid rather than snow. Still, a few snowflakes may mix in this afternoon with little luck of sticking.

As temperatures slide tonight, snow will gradually take over. Areas along and south of the Mass Pike, especially Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, have the best chance of seeing a coating-2". Elsewhere flurries are forecasted tonight.

Light snow showers should dry up before sunrise tomorrow. Morning temperatures in the 20s and 30s will head to highs in the middle 40s Tuesday. As the storm pulls farther out to sea, more breaks in the clouds will form as the day goes on.

A Wind Advisory will be in effect in Nantucket from 4 pm Monday to 8 am Tuesday. Sustained winds 25-25 mph with gusts to 45 mph are expected. In Boston winds will not be as strong: NE 10-20 mph and gusts to 30 mph.

This will not be a major event for the coast. Some minor splash over and minor beach erosion is possible during the 11 pm high tide.
