Lexington groomers say dog had been neglected for years

LEXINGTON, Mass. — After what groomers say is years of abuse, a 6-year-old cocker spaniel will be getting a new home soon.

The owner of Golden Paws Pet Grooming in Lexington told FOX25 that Lolly was brought in last in week in awful condition.

“When I took her to the vet, her ears were bleeding,” groomer Marlicua Soares said.

Lolly has ear infections so bad, the vet said she is deaf. Her paws are swollen, she was dehydrated, shivering, and living in filth.

“She was living and I would say looks like a trash can. Seems like everything the guy was eating, he would just throw the wraps on the floor and stuff,” groomer Larissa Deandrade said.

The groomers told FOX25 Lolly’s former owner could not care for her, so he gave her away. When he went to visit he saw the living conditions.

Now, Lexington police are investigating the possible neglect.

“If you don’t have time or even money, to take care of a dog, don’t bother taking it,” Soares said.

While all of this is going on, the groomers refuse to give her back, and now they’re stuck with the vet bills and Lolly’s care.
