SEEKONK, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Level 3 sex offender was arrested Wednesday in Seekonk in connection with indecent assault and battery charges.
Robert Assad, 37, of Westport was arrested in Seekonk on the charge of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 (subsequent offense). The arrest came after police made several attempts to bring him in on the new charge and he failed to meet with investigators, officials say.
Assad was recently fitted with a GPS tracking device, which assisted police in locating him. They were first sent to the Shangri-La Motel in Seekonk, but Assad has just left. Officers then tracked him to a nearby Sam's Club, where he was taken into custody.
The victim is a 5-year-old child who is known to the family.
Assad was arraigned at Fall River District Court.
