Legal expert: Newly released photos suggest Bulger may testify

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com/AP) – On Wednesday night, defense attorneys for James "Whitey" Bulger released 20 photos of the alleged mobster, as well as photos of Bulger with Catherine Greig, dogs, and others who knew him.

The photos were all filed along with a document saying only that Bulger may offer the following exhibits during the case; however, it did not say if Bulger himself will definitely take the stand.

The prosecution has been pushing for an answer as to whether or not Bulger will testify so they can properly prepare. FOX 25 legal expert Brad Bailey says this has all the earmarks that Bulger may indeed take the stand.

Bulger's defense team is expected to call more former FBI officials to testify Thursday as the question of whether he will take the stand himself remains hanging.

Bulger faces allegations that he took part in 19 slayings while leading Boston's Irish mob in the 1970s and 80s.

Tommy Donahue, whose father is among Bulger's alleged victims, says he's eager to see Bulger testify. He says Bulger still has a chance "to try to save any name he has left" by possibly exposing some law enforcement corruption.

FOX 25's Bob Ward will have all the latest developments from the courtroom on Thursday.
