LAWRENCE, Mass. — The Lawrence Police Department is investigating reports of shots fired near Lawrence General Hospital Saturday night.

Just before midnight, police responded to Canal Street after an emergency medical technician reported hearing gun shots.

Police say they got to the scene where they were told by someone that a dark-colored sedan stopped on Canal Street and fired four shots. The car moved up to the intersection of Marston Street, fired another round and took off.

A medical helicopter was leaving the hospital’s pad at that time, but was not impacted by the reported shots.

The incident is under investigation.
