Lawn On D expanding bar, including reserve seating

BOSTON — The popular Lawn on D is getting ready to debut new improvements and ways to enjoy summer before it's grand opening.

The opening weekend for the park on D Street is May 4, as part of a weekend-long Cinco de Mayo Celebration. Then, on May 19, the Berklee College Friday lunch series will return.

Lawn On D, powered by Citizens Bank, will be sporting some new features, including a full-service bar and expanded menu. There are eight high-top tables that can be reserved too, which organizers will hope people to allow special occasions at the park.

There are also new lawn games, including giant chess, checkers and Connect Four. One of the most popular features, the swings, will be back with the swings now changing from green to white when moving. There will also be cornhole tournaments on Friday starting May 19.

New games like giant chess, lawn checkers, and large Connect Four will also be available during Public Programming and private events.

The calendar isn't online yet, but will go live on Wednesday, April 26.
