Las Vegas shooting victim released from hospital in time for holidays

BALTIMORE — A young woman who was critically wounded during the Las Vegas shooting earlier this year has been released from the rehab hospital in time for the holidays.

For the first time in months, Tina Frost will be able to enjoy family, friends and normalcy.

An update on the GoFundMe page started for Frost says she will continue going to therapy on an outpatient basis.

"She continues to get a a lil stronger and better every day," said the family.

Frost was shot in the head during the Oct. 1 mass shooting in Las Vegas while trying to flee the Route 91 music festival. Frost underwent a delicate, three-hour surgery, and some bullet fragments remain in her brain. She lost her right eye and was in a coma for more than a week. A few weeks ago, her family released a video of her practicing walking in the rehab hospital.

Frost, 27, has a long road of recovery ahead. She's undergoing occupational, speech, physical and psychological therapies. She's had three surgeries so far and is learning to adjust to a new normal.

"Although we appreciate all the support, Tina doesn’t like being the center of attention. Please respect her privacy and feelings and not make a big deal of it if you see her out and about. She (and we) can be emotional these days and we want her to be able to acclimate herself to non-hospital life as smoothly as possible," said the family.

The GoFundMe for Frost went viral and has more than $600,000 in donations, with money still rolling in.
