Large hole forms in road following Chelsea water main break

CHELSEA, Mass. — Crews are working to repair a water main break that sent water gushing down several Chelsea roads early Wednesday morning.

Few details have been released by officials, but the break was reported in the area of Sagamore and Garfield avenues.

A Boston 25 News crew at the scene says water was flowing down side streets and a large hole formed where the water gushed from.

As a result of the break, Garfield Avenue is closed at Revere Beach Parkway while crews work to make repairs.

It’s unclear how long crews need to make repairs, and drivers are being asked to avoid the area if possible.

No other information was released.
