Landlord cited for Boston fire that killed BU student

BOSTON (AP) - The city has cited the owner of a home where a Boston University student was killed in a weekend fire in Boston's Allston neighborhood.

The Boston Globe reports the citations released Tuesday by the Inspectional Services Department allege the landlord was operating an illegal rooming house by allowing 19 people to live in the two-family home, and didn't have proper permits for basement bedrooms.

The cause of the Sunday morning fire that killed 22-year-old Binland Lee of Brooklyn, N.Y., is under investigation.

The inspection citations could be sent to housing court if the landlord, Anna Belokurova of Newton, doesn't bring the property up to code.

Her attorney, Frank Fragomeni, said Belokurova is having "a very difficult time with this" and declined to comment further "until we have the facts."
