Kitten stolen from MSPCA adoption center found safe

UPDATE: Caramel the kitten has been found! MSPCA-Nevins Farm said on Facebook Friday afternoon that the suspects have been found and the kitten is on its way back to the foster home.

ORIGINAL STORY: Officials are looking for the woman they say stole a kitten from an adoption center Thursday afternoon.

Just before 1:15 p.m. Thursday, officials say a two-and-a-half-old domestic short-haired kitten named Caramel was stolen from the MSPCA-Nevins Farm adoption center in Methuen.

An image released from security footage shows the suspected thief. Officials say Caramel's head can be seek peeking out of the woman's purse. She is described by staff as a Caucasian woman, approximately 5'6" tall and 200 pounds. She was driving a light-colored Ford F150 extended cab pickup truck, but security cameras were not able to capture the license plate.

The Methuen Police Department has been notified and is investigating.

"At this point our number one priority is getting Caramel back in our care," said Meaghan O’Leary of the MSPCA-Nevins Farm.
