Kevin's forecast for holiday travelers

by FOX 25 Chief Meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz:

It is Thanksgiving week, so many will be traveling. Here in the Northeast, you won't have any problems getting around. Flying just about anywhere in the country up to Thanksgiving day should be fine, except for the Pacific Northwest.

Washington and Oregon will be hit hard by heavy rain, with heavy snow in the highest elevations that could be measured in feet! Your flight out there, or flight from there for someone you are waiting for, could have big problems now through Wednesday. Otherwise, it won't be the weather slowing you down.

The storm forming off the east coast that we talked about last week is indeed forming. It is also looking like it will stay well offshore. Still, the winds around the broad circulation will likely send big waves toward the East Coast. That could cause some beach erosion, but shouldn't be a travel problem.
