Jose: Storm that won't go away continues to batter coast

HYANNIS, Mass. — Jose has weakened and is no longer a tropical storm, but it’s closer than ever to our coastline bringing gusty winds and torrential rain to parts of the area.

The Cape and Islands have been bearing the brunt of this weeklong weather event and ferries to and from places like Nantucket have not been running because of the rough conditions on the water.

Ferries have been canceled over the past few days, and most have been canceled for Friday.

The rain and wind are expected to continue for most of the day, which is throwing a wrench into plans for anyone trying to get to the island this weekend.

There are, however, some flights running from Boston to Nantucket, but they could be delayed or canceled depending on weather condition later on during the day.
