Jesus, Mary statues stolen from creche in Quincy Square

QUINCY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Quincy police are asking for the public's help in tracking down religious statues stolen from a Nativity creche in the city square.

The police department took to Twitter Thursday morning to ask residents to be on the lookout for the statues of Mary and Jesus. They say the statues were taken from Quincy Square sometime overnight.

According to the Enterprise, the figures were reported missing by a street-sweeper employee at about 2:24 a.m. Thursday. A spokesperson for Mayor Thomas Koch said the Joseph and lamb statues were also stolen.

The Jesus figure was also stolen from the creche in 2012.

Anyone with information is asked to call the 24-hour tip line at 617-745-4014.
