Jeep’s Twitter account latest to be hacked

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – The official Twitter account for Jeep appears to be the latest victims of hacking.

The SUV-maker's profile photo was changed to a Cadillac logo and the cover photo was changed to a promotion for a Cadillac sedan.

The first tweet from the hacker appeared to have come at about 1:30 p.m.

In response to the apparent hacking Cadillac Tweeted: "Just to clarify, Cadillac is not connected to the hack of the @Jeep Twitter account."

Jeep press contacts told Fox 25 News that they were aware of the hacking and were attempting to resolve the problem. They said they did not know who had hacked their account.

On Monday, fast-food chain Burger King's Twitter account was hacked and obscene messages were tweeted.

Similar Tweets, as well as references to rapper Chief Keef, were posted on Jeep's account. It was not immediately known who had hacked either account.

Twitter acknowledged on Feb. 1 that cyber attackers may have stolen user names and passwords of 250,000 users. It said at the time that it notified users of the breach.

On Tuesday, MTV and BET also claimed that their Twitter accounts had been hacked; however, it appeared to be a marketing stunt.
