Jared Remy accused of assault in jail fight

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Suspected killer Jared Remy is accused of attacking someone inside the Middlesex jail in Cambridge.

The reported assault happened Thursday, and according to the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office, a criminal complaint has been filed against Remy charging him with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

It's unclear who Remy allegedly attacked, but the 35-year-old has been moved to a separate area of the jail where he is to have no contact with any other inmates.

The Middlesex Sheriff's Office released the following statement Friday:

"The Middlesex Sheriff's Office has brought a criminal complaint against Jared Remy, 35, of Waltham, charging him with assault & battery with a dangerous weapon. Mr. Remy is alleged to have assaulted a fellow pre-trial detainee at the Middlesex jail in Cambridge on April 3. Following the incident, Mr. Remy was moved to a separate area of the facility where he has no contact with other detainees. Mr. Remy is expected to be arraigned on the new case on April 24 in Cambridge District Court."

Remy, 35, plead not guilty to fatally stabbing his then girlfriend Jennifer Martel at their apartment last August. He was released from custody after allegedly pushing Martel into a mirror two days before she was killed.
