James Holmes mask yanked from eBay

AURORA, CO (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A Halloween mask that was briefly listed for sale on eBay sparked outrage on Friday.

The mask is nearly identical to James Holmes, the man accused of killing 12 people and wounding dozens more inside a crowded movie theater in Aurora, CO this summer. With bright orange hair and a confused look on its face, the mask mimics the first mug shot released of Holmes shortly after the massacre.

FOX 31 in Denver posted the entire ad for the shocking mask on their website.

"There is nothing more scary than crawling into James Holmes mind and wearing his face. His ‘soul penetrating eyes' and ‘The Joker' orange hair makes this mask the most disturbing object you will ever own," reads the description.

The mask carried a whopping $500 price tag.

The seller's profile was reportedly created on Sept. 2, 2011, but has only attempted to sell the mask. FOX 31 reports that the mask's listing has since been taken down from eBay.

The auction website released a statement to the media on Friday regarding their decision to pull the mask's listing.

"Out of respect for victims of violent crimes, eBay does not allow listings that attempt to profit from human tragedy or suffering," the company said.
