It's #GivingTuesday

BOSTON — After all the shopping over the weekend, Giving Tuesday is kicking off the charitable season.

The idea behind #GivingTuesday started six years ago and was created by the Belfer Center for Innovation and Social Impact in New York City. The idea was to celebrate and encourage giving.

The idea has now become a global movement and has brought together nonprofits, corporations and civic organizations.

There are plenty of organizations to give to locally, with Giving Tuesday listing many of them on its website.
