Israeli man killed in hit-and-run crash on Sagamore Bridge

BOURNE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) - Massachusetts State Police say the victim of a fatal hit-and-run crash at the base of the Sagamore Bridge in Bourne has been identified as an Israeli man who was driving a rented minivan with multiple passengers, including children.

Police say the crash occurred at about 8 p.m. Thursday when a pickup truck merging onto Route 6 east struck another pickup, a 2004 GMC Sierra. The GMC Sierra careened into the westbound lanes, striking the victim's 2012 Chrysler Town & Country minivan head-on.

The vehicle that allegedly caused the crash drove away. Police are looking for the dark-colored truck with minor or moderate damage to its left front end or left side.

The victim was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released.

Some van passengers and the driver of the second pickup were hospitalized.

Another victim, a 43-year-old Sandwich man who was driving the GMC Sierra, was taken to South Shore Hospital with serious injuries. His name has not been released.

State police are not commenting on why the group from Israel was in Massachusetts.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Bourne State Police Barracks at 508-759-4488.
