• Isis Parenting closes its doors

BROOKLINE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A popular baby store that was founded in Brookline announced plans to close its doors Jan 15.

Isis Parenting, which is known for its prenatal classes and toddler development groups, took to Facebook to announce that they will be closing. They did not give a reason for their closure.

The company planned to tell affected parents that no classes or phone consultations would be held.

They released a statement Wednesday that read in-part:

"This was a difficult decision, but ultimately the only option for this beloved organization. It is a challenging time for independent retailers. Our small remaining team is working diligently with our hospital, community and business partners on solutions for our clients, our partners and their patients."

According to their website, Isis Parenting began in a one-room space in Brookline in 2003 under the name Isis Maternity.

Prior to its closing, the company operated four centers in eastern Massachusetts, as well as 9 locations in Georgia and Texas. They also operated an online store and an online community.

New mother Linda Deladurantaye was shocked when she heard the news.

"I was really shocked when I woke up I saw my email this morning at 9 a.m. pretty much saying it's closed and I'm actually taking a class right now. so I was shocked"

Parents like Jerry Mead don't know what to do now. He's been bringing his daughter here for almost a year, he said.

"Just having a little but of time to reflect on it, it's quite a loss," he said.
