Investigation continues after Lynn teacher found dead in home

REVERE, Mass. — An investigation is continuing in Revere after a second-grade teacher was found dead in her home Saturday afternoon.

The body of 30-year-old Vanessa MacCormack, a teacher at Connery Elementary School in Lynn, was found around 3:30 p.m. Saturday inside the Grand View Avenue home she shared with her husband and 1-year-old daughter, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney.

“She loved us all so much. Although she was only 30 and she was robbed of her future, she lived a happy life. She had the wedding of her dreams, her dream job (teacher), traveled, went out to eat, had the perfect baby, and loved her husband with every ounce of her soul. I hope for my sister to be remembered, as a beautiful mother, sister, wife, cousin, daughter, and teacher," MacCormack's sister Angela Masucci said in a message to Boston 25 News reporter Litsa Pappas.

While an exact cause of manner of death have yet to be determined, a preliminary examination showed signs of trauma to MacCormack’s body, according to investigators.

“I Just want to know what’s going on,” a neighbor, who only wanted to be identified as Sarah, said. “(We’re) disappointed they haven’t given us something to feel at ease a little bit, you know? Because a lot of kids live around here and everybody is just really concerned.”

MacCormack taught second grade at Connery Elementary School for five years.

On Sunday, her principal released a statement and said:

“Our school community is heartbroken. Vanessa was loved by many students, parents, and colleagues. She was involved in every aspect of the school and a great friend to everyone on the staff. She will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.”

Grief counselors are expected to be at Connery Elementary School for the whole week.

Massachusetts State Police and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office will release more information about the incident when the investigation has concluded and an autopsy has been conducted.

Anyone with information about MacCormack’s death is asked to call police.
