In wake of House of Blues death, BU police look to educate students

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Boston University Police are using the death of 19-year-old Brittany Flannigan, who died this week in an apparent drug overdose at the House of Blues, as an opportunity to warn incoming students about the dangers of synthetic drugs.

Flannigan, of Derry, N.H., was allegedly using "Molly," a synthetic drug similar to ecstasy, during a show at the House of Blues Tuesday night. Two others allegedly also overdosed, but survived.

University police are also urging students to look out for one another and to help out if they sense someone is in trouble.

Boston Mayor Tom Menino is also working to educate students and club owners about the dangers of drugs.
