WATERTOWN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Thousands of firefighters from across the country traveled to Watertown Wednesday to pay their respects to the loved ones of a 43-year-old Boston firefighter who died while battling a 9-alarm fire in Boston's Back Bay.

Lt. Edward Walsh died alongside 33-year-old Firefighter Michael Kennedy when they became trapped in the March 26 blaze at a brownstone building. He was married with three children all under the age of 10. His wife asked if it would be possible to find his wedding ring. It was recovered from the scene of the fire and returned to her Tuesday.

Walsh's funeral Mass was held at St. Patrick's Church in Watertown, where he grew up.
