Hurricane Jose stalls Nantucket wedding

NANTUCKET, Mass. — A Nantucket couple's wedding plans might not go as planned and the remnants of Hurricane Jose are to blame.

Mary Wheeler plans to marry her fiancee Tom Grape in a weekend ceremony on Nantucket, however, in lieu of recent weather, her guests are still stuck in Hyannis.

Ferry service has been cancelled for the past few days, and most trips have been cancelled for Friday.

Only six people out of the one hundred plus guest list are ready to attend the wedding.

Guests aren't the only ones waiting for the ferry service to resume - the flowers, the band, and even the officiant can't make it to the island.

"I decided I should just get a big Hefty bag and a big wide ribbon and wear that as my dress, because I can't wear what I was planning on-it's gonna get ruined!" Mary Wheeler said.

Wheeler is thankful, however, that at least the groom is in the island with her.

"Tom and I are together, thank God he's here," Wheeler said.

The couple, who have been together for five years, say they just want to be married and are keeping their fingers crossed that their ship will come in.

"We're making the best of the situation, for sure," Wheeler said.
