House fire in Manchester, NH injures 2 people, including a firefighter

A fire at a multi-family home in Manchester, N.H. on Thursday night left two people injured, including a firefighter.

Six families are now without a home on this Thanksgiving night and two people were taken to area hospitals.

The scene of the fire is still active as firefighters dig through the damage to find out what could've set off the fire at this apartment building.

Fire crews tell Boston 25 News several pets had to be rescued from the burning building, but luckily, everyone survived.

One person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and a firefighter was transported with minor burns.

The Manchester Fire Chief says the fire was a challenge to put out since they had to rescue people before battling the flames.

"First few minutes on scene (and) we're not even fighting the fire," said Fire Chief Mike Gamache.

Chief Gamache estimates the damage to the house to exceed $150,000 dollars.

The Red Cross is now at the scene helping those families find a place to stay for the time being.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
