• Holyoke man gets 5 years in teen sex case

EAST BROOKFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A Holyoke man who authorities say had sex with a 15-year-old girl he met online has been sentenced to five years in jail.

Michael Theroux in a deal with prosecutors pleaded guilty on Monday to two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person more than 14 years old. In exchange, a child rape charge was dismissed.
The Hardwick girl told police that she and the 24-year-old Theroux had sex with her about three months after they connected on a social networking website. She said he told her and her family that he was 17 and lied about his name.
The Telegram & Gazette reports that she told police they had sex five times without her consent, including at her home where police found them together in a bedroom.
