Holyoke man gets 5 years in teen sex case

EAST BROOKFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A Holyoke man who authorities say had sex with a 15-year-old girl he met online has been sentenced to five years in jail.

Michael Theroux in a deal with prosecutors pleaded guilty on Monday to two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person more than 14 years old. In exchange, a child rape charge was dismissed.

The Hardwick girl told police that she and the 24-year-old Theroux had sex with her about three months after they connected on a social networking website. She said he told her and her family that he was 17 and lied about his name.

The

reports that she told police they had sex five times without her consent, including at her home where police found them together in a bedroom.
